Socialite Patricia Jeke appeared in court on disorderly conduct charges after allegedly causing a disturbance at a police station in Harare.
Jeke (35) was brought before Harare magistrate Michael Mafukidze and remanded in custody to today for plea recording.
According to the State, represented by Emma Habeza of the Zimbabwe Republic Police Highlands, the incident occurred on March 29 at around 10pm at Highlands Police Station.
Prosecutors allege that Jeke had gone to the station following the arrest of a friend, but began shouting at police officers, using vulgar language and invoking the names of senior Government officials.
She is accused of threatening officers, alleging corruption and vowing to have them dismissed, while declaring that the Highlands Police "must go down."
The court heard that her actions disrupted operations at the station and were deemed to have tarnished the image of the police.
The matter is expected to proceed with plea recording.
