Zimbabwe National Editors Forum (Zinef) treasurer Oliver Gawe has died.
Zinef Acting chairperson Njabulo Ncube said it was with sadness that Zinef learnt of the untimely death of veteran journalist Oliver Gawe.
"He passed away last night (Sunday) in Maseru, Lesotho where he had just started working for a low newspaper. Although details are still sketchy, information emanating from Maseru indicates he had a heart problem and BP. His wife is on her way to Maseru," Ncube posted on Facebook.
"Gawe was a very dedicated media person after cutting his teeth at Zimpapers where he rose through the different ranks in the newsroom. He joined the Herald in the mid-80s, as part of a group of young journalists taking over from the then-white dominated paper."
At the time of his death he was treasurer of Zinef.
