"THERE is no way I can let you continue enjoying the fruits of nature with my daughter while you have not paid all my money," uttered an angry Nyamandlovu father.
The man, Obadiah Khathazile Nkomo (51) of plot number 22, Mimosa Park is reported to have performed a free drama at the shopping centre when he bashed his son-in-law Elias Mangwana (26).
Sources said that Nkomo met Mangwana at the shops at around 5pm on 26 November.
The son-in-law greeted his in-law with all respect but Nkomo was in no mood for that and started blaming the man for using his daughter.
When Mangwana was still in a dilemma and baffled about what was happening Nkomo started punching him.
"Nkomo was very angry and he started beating his son- in- law accusing him of taking too long to settle the bride price.
"It was hard for Mangwana to fight his father-in-law so he just shouted for help from people," said the source.
The man was saved by some police officers who were at the shopping centre as they arrested the man.
Matabeleland North acting police spokesperson Sergeant Eglon Nkala confirmed the incident saying Nkomo was behind bars.
"The man, Nkomo would be appearing in court soon facing assault charges. According to a report we got, the man beat his son-in-law because he was delaying to pay lobola.
"He beat him with clenched fists and he sustained a swollen face," said Sgnt Nkala.
He said that they did not manage to get the amount of money Mangwana owed.
The bitter man, Nkomo said he was not happy with the fact that when Mangwana started staying with his daughter, he had promised to pay bride-price within a short period of time, but it has taken longer than he expected.
