Zimbabwe signs US$150 Million agreements with Belarus

Zimbabwe and Belarus have this afternoon signed a US$150 million Memorandum of Agreement in four areas namely road and dam construction, mining, agriculture, municipal and other equipment.
Zimbabwe was represented by Vice President Mnangagwa while Belarus was represented by Prime Minister Andrei Vladirovich Kobyakov at a colourful ceremony held at the Belarus government house.
Speaking before signing the agreement, Belarus Prime Minister Kobyakov said his country is excited to have found a reliable trade partner.
He said above what has been agreed on, Belarus is prepared to train Zimbabwean technical and agriculture engineers as well as supply of equipment.
Another key area of cooperation between the two countries is the legal sector.
In his speech at the event, Vice President Mnangagwa said despite sanctions and the western media being awash with bad stories and perception about Belarus, Zimbabwe will be a good ambassador of the country and will tell the true story.
He said Belarus is a developed, orderly and clean country with loving people.
Soon after the signing ceremony, Vice President Mnangagwa toured the Belarus Minsk Tractor Works which is one of the world's biggest tractor manufacturing companies which has been in existence for the past 70 years with dealership in 150 countries.
Minsk Tractor Works Director General, Mr Domotenko Fiodor said their company has started looking into the possibility of investing in Zimbabwe, adding that plans are underway to put up a service centre in Zimbabwe and later put up a tractor plant.
