HARARE - South African gospel star Lundi Tyamara, who last performed in this country three years ago, will rekindle his love with Zimbabwean fans when he performs in Harare on October 5.
The South Africa Music Awards (Sama) and Kora award winner's concert on the Harare Gardens Main Stage will also include top Zimbabwean musicians Mathias Mhere, Bethen Pasinawako-Ngolomi and the high-riding Zimpraise Choir.
The controversial star's return to Zimbabwe is being made possible by the newly-formed Beauty Africa Promotions run by gospel musician Beauty James.
James, the director of the promoting company, is expecting the Mphefumulo Wami singer - whose last show in Zimbabwe was in July 2010 - to draw in thousands of fans.
"It has been a long time since Lundi performed in Zimbabwe and I am convinced that thousands of his loyal fans cannot wait for the special day.
"That is why we have decided to reunite him with his starved fans," said the budding promoter.
The South African gospel music singer was supposed to have come to Harare last year but the concert failed to take place due to bungling by promoters.
James is certain that the celebrated South African artiste will make it this time.
"I understand a Lundi concert set for the capital city dubbed Kingdom Praise Family Gospel Show failed to take place due to a number of logistical problems.
"This time, let me assure Lundi's fans that his coming is a certainty. Lundi was my friend and mentor for more than a decade while I was in South Africa where I did my studies in music.
"I even collaborated with him on my third album Usatongwe Nedemon. My good relations with Lundi are only an icing on the cake because I did all the procedures required before bringing a foreign artiste into the country.
"I have done all that is supposed to be done," said the promoter and gospel musician.
James told the Daily News that Lundi, a former backing vocalist for South African gospel legend Rebecca Malope, would jet into Zimbabwe on September 29.
"He is coming in time for the show. Gospel fans will get the chance to sample songs off Mhere's forthcoming album which will be launched at the Harare International Conference Centre on October 26," said James.
James, who is relatively unknown as a gospel artiste locally, has also promised to make a cameo performance during Lundi's show.
"I will take the opportunity to introduce my new album Anokuda Wakadaro to my fans."
