Sekurutau to headline Africa Day Concert

Zimbabwe's African Roots Music maestro Bryn Taurai Mteki headlines the Africa Day Concert scheduled for the City Sports Bar on Thursday starting at 7pm.

The potentially explosive gig which has been dubbed "Zim-Traditional Music at Its Best" will see other heavy hitters in the likes of Nyasvisva neMaungira eNharira and Zvido Zvevanhu Traditional Ensemble taking to the stage.

Mteki aka Sekurutau to his legion of fans who is back to rock the stage will go all out in ensuring that music lovers have a night to remember with his yester year chart toppers  and new songs from the upcoming album titled ‘Ndakabvakure' that features the hits ‘Inzwa' and ‘Ndinongovhaira'.

For most people, Sekurutau is filling the void of traditional music with his African roots brand.

The award-winning sculptor is also keen on taking Zimbabwean music to the world through his art.

Performing with a live band, his repertoire comprises mbiras, keyboards, drums and guitars which make fans sway to the melody whether it's old or new songs.

And the Africa Day Concert is no exception having rejigged his act since his countrywide tour which took him to Mutare, Chipinge, Highfield at Club Saratoga (the house of Sekurutau).

The multi-talented singer, songwriter and composer returned home after a 16 year hiatus during which time he toured overseas and rejuvenated his act.

But Sekurutau is not only claiming his spot in music but also in other fronts which include running his own business empire comprising a clothing line, chain stores, bottle stores and real estate.

That said, Nyamasvisva is no pushover as he knows how to serenade mbira lovers.

He is known to produce flawless act whenever he performs.

Last but not least, Zvido Zvevanhu is a touring group whose sound resonates well with traditional music lovers.
