D2X wages war against corruption

Kwaito artist Darlington Sibanda better known as D2X released a new single yesterday called "Batai Munhu". This is one of those songs that clasp your attention at first listening to its lyrical message before you mind about its beat.
"Batai Munhu" it's a sign of the time song that highlights the ills of today's society. Produced by D2X and Dj Master a South African Club DJ, the single has so far garnered mixed reception.
The Kwaito kid takes aim at many of the most sensationalistic news headlines from the past months.
"Its time to put down the club/booty music and talk about real issues and I pride myself on delivering street knowledge. This song is no exception," D2X said in a statement.
"I want to make my point clear that I am not anti-government, my fans support different political organisations, some subscribe to Zanu-PF while others are disciples of the two MDCs, and ZAPU and I respect that. I am just anti-corruption and I am not going to stop singing about it because it affects all of us. We maybe enjoying in the Diaspora but we got to remember all our friends and families back home that go for months without getting their salaries which is too bad," he said.
The Kwaito kid vows to use his music to hit at corruption and persist to make his point clear on it.
"I want people especially the youth to join 'TeamD2' as we stand up and fight corruption together. There are many ways we can use of which I can't disclose those ways now," he added.
"The government must allow the anti-corruption commission to perform its work without interference. The commission must be given legislative powers to subpoena witnesses and to investigate cases of corruption. It breaks my heart when ever I read of the unthinkable corruption and underhand dealings in government, the leaders of state enterprises and parastatals are paying themselves hefty salaries that are bleeding the economy while low level civil servants are wallowing in poverty," he said.
As musicians, we do not hold guns, but music. We should use it to highlight issues. Corruption has become endemic; there is corruption in the media and even in the entertainment industry. It's so embarrassing that our country ranks joint 163rd out of 176 countries in the 2012 Transparency International Corruption Perceptions Index. On a scale of 0 (highly corrupt) to 10 (very clean), the Corruption Perceptions Index marked our Great Zimbabwe 2.0. This marks an increase in corruption since 1999, when the country ranked 4.1. D2X adds that such statistics impelled him to fight corruption through his lastest single.
