JOHANNESBURG - A Bulawayo born musician, Fundani Ndebele has released a hot 9track gospel debut album entitled 'Backwards Never ' featuring Buhle Nhlangulela, one of the Mzansi local gospel stars .
The word from the fans affirms that the artist did not just take advantage of keyboard as it has been a norm to most gospel artists, rather the beats were carefully crafted ,mastered and polished, hence the album is acoustically tasty.
"I started singing whilst I was in grade three at Chithekani Primary school, I scooped all the awards available by then in music category. Even when i proceeded to secondary school at Bulawayo Methodist college I never stopped singing until I completed my form Six and never compromised my studies, " said the ecstatic artist who is currently studying Communication Science at UNISA.
After his high school life, Ndebele then dropped a single in 2012 entitled 'Ngizohamba Nawe' ,which ultimately announced his arrival in the real industry and from then he got several invitations to sing in different funerals and weddings.
With the positive comments from listeners and the inherent growing passion,in 2013 Ndebele released his six singles (Ngizohambas nawe, Uyinqaba yami, Ulidwala lami, Holly spirit, Anginakho okwaneleyo, Kungegazi lemvana) . He used to perform these songs with an acapella group known as Wipers of Gospel .
The year 2016 witnessed the solo journey of Ndebele who started working on his album as early as January then recorded it in July. The album was produced by Ashely Ngobeni then mastered by Hamilton Khubashe.
"I think this is my breakthrough album. I have faced a lot of challenges especially in marketing, now I have finally seen the light. This has in fact inspired me to establish my own marketing company that will market gospel artists especially from my city where artists have faced enough marginalisation," concluded Ndebele.
