As Nkululeko and Nozipho had their perfect wedding, his first wife, Nompumelelo Zulu-Khumalo, saw her husband get married on national TV without her knowledge, reports Daily Sun.
The 37-year-old woman from Inchanga, west of Durban, told the tabloid she was still legally married to Nkululeko, and he should have asked for her permission before remarrying.
Zulu-Khumalo said she separated from her husband in 2014. Though she was not hoping for a reconciliation, she did not file for divorce or tear up her marriage certificate.
Like any other, Zulu-Khumalo said their love story started as a fairy tale, though they did not have money and could not afford an expensive and luxurious wedding like the one he had on Sunday. Nkululeko paid lobola and got married in 2008, in a marriage that was registered at home affairs.
In 2014, things turned sour when her husband reportedly started bringing women into their marital home, leading to the failure of their marriage and, eventually, Zulu-Khumalo getting kicked out of their house after complaining to her husband about his behaviour.
The tabloid reports that Nkululeko neither denied nor admitted to the allegations, but he said what had happened could not be changed and saw no reason to discuss the issue.
Home affairs department spokesperson Thabo Makgola reportedly told the estranged wife to approach the department of justice and constitutional development, as it dealt with marital issues such as hers.
Nkululeko married his new wife in a luxurious wedding that saw Nozipho walk down the aisle in a dress that she said was her dream. She changed into four outfits – two for the white wedding and two for the traditional ceremony.
