Police have arrested a man in connection with the murder of a 40 year old street vendor, Winnet Chirunga, at Chadibe recently.
The suspects allegedly robbed the deceased's two cousins and raped one.
It is alleged that the suspects were two and the other one is still at large.
The robbers entered Chirunga's rented house at 3am on the 12th of this month and smothered her to death using her own shawl.
All the three ladies were sleeping in the same room and Chirunga's visiting friends were ordered to cover themselves up with blankets while the armed robbers continued to strangle her and demanding money.
It is suspected that Chirunga knew the arrested man and that is why they decided to kill her.
Tatitown police station commander Cyprus Magalila said the investigations are in initial stage. He said the suspect will appear before court on Thursday.
