Eight teachers in Gweru have been left cursing the day they decided to look for greener pastures after they were used and dumped by an elite school Lingfield Christian Academy.

The eight who resigned from the Ministry of Education after being promised better packages had their contracts terminated after just two terms.

The teachers are now living in bitterness after promises of greener pastures turned out to be a valley of despair.

Before the ordeal, the teachers were working in the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education and famed for producing excellent results at schools such as Regina Mundi, Fletcher and Anderson.

The teachers who were lured by educationist Mr Morton Mabandla who was starting a new elite school known as Lingfield Christian Academy are now unemployed after their contracts were terminated after just two terms.

After promising salaries of over a thousand dollars, better accommodation and an excellent medical aid scheme, Mabandla's promises quickly turned into a nightmare as nothing was fulfilled according to the teachers.

One of the victims a former school head from an elite school in Bulawayo worked for three weeks before he resigned due to frustration.

ZBC tracked some of the affected teachers who confirmed they are now unemployed after falling for Mabandla's tricks.

The teachers have since engaged the services of a lawyer so that the institution can pay them their dues.

A senior education officer who refused to speak on camera said it is not only unfair but cruel for a former teacher to treat members of his own profession in such a manner.

He confirmed the teachers who whose contracts were terminated for alleged incompetence are in fact among some of the best as they are renowned for producing good results.

It is alleged that one of the affected teachers died of hypertension but it is not known whether the death is connected to stress related to the termination of employment.

The school which has a tennis and basket ball court advertises other sports such as cricket, polocrosse, hockey, archery and rugby even though they have no facilities for such sports.
