The Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Dr Lazarus Dokora has promised to do everything in his power to bring normalcy at the troubled Chipadze High School which had its property auctioned.
Dr Dokora's assurance follows the auctioning of property at the school by the deputy sheriff to recover more than US$90 000 owed to a local school furniture supply company.
Flouting tender procedures, the Bindura Municipality-run school bought 2 000 chairs and an equal number of desks from the company, a debt the school has failed to pay.
Property auctioned include a 75-seater bus, kombi hiace, Isuzu truck, fridges, photocopying machines, computers and 1 500 chairs, a move that has affected operations.
Minister Dokora who led a high powered delegation to the school where he met with parents and the school development committee members described the crises at Chipadze High as a disgrace to the education sector.
Meanwhile, the school head at Chipadze has since been suspended so that a forensic audit can be conducted to determine the merits of the matter.
