At Mpilo Central Hospital 30 babies were born, 16 boys and 14 girls compared to the 15 that were born at the same time last year.
The Sister-in-Charge at the hospital, Sr Hellen Gumede, told the Sunday News that there were 27 normal deliveries and three born via caesarean section.
"All the mothers delivered well and the babies are generally fine," she said.

The officials said the mothers were all in good condition. Mater Dei Hospital recorded one birth while three were born at the same time last year.

"I am happy to have given birth on Christmas Day which is a special day; I am more than excited about this although it was painful. I have not given my baby a name as yet," she said.
An elated grandmother, Mrs Laiza Tshuma, said she will forever cherish the Christmas present that her daughter brought for them.
