A 42-YEAR-OLD man from Bulawayo lost property worth US$1 240 when he was robbed by a gang while relieving himself.

The machete gang pounced on him after he had accompanied a female friend to collect a makeup kit in Emakhandeni suburb.

Circumstances are that on 20 September 2022 and at around 10pm, the victim drove a female friend to Emakhandeni suburb to collect a makeup kit.

When they arrived, the man parked his car outside the gate, and the woman went inside the house.

The man then disembarked and went outside to relieve himself, and while he was relieving himself he was surrounded by a machete wielding gang.

The gang, which demanded valuables, started assaulting him several times all over his body and took away his Nokia phone and US$300 cash.

The gang then proceeded to the car and stole two android cellphones that were on the dashboard, and they disappeared from the scene.

Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident and urged the public to desist from moving around at night.

"We are investigating a case of robbery in Emakhandeni and we are urging the public to avoid travelling at night.

"During the night, criminals would be moving around, and once you are seen parking anywhere outside houses, you are likely to be pounced upon," said Inspector Ncube.
