The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) have joined forces for a taxpayer awareness campaign aimed at educating the public about tax laws and compliance.
The campaign's main goal is to enhance public understanding of tax obligations and reduce tax evasion by providing accurate information through the media.
The initiative began with two key events: an Editors' Forum in Bulawayo last month and an upcoming Tax and Customs Education for Journalists in Masvingo scheduled for June. By equipping editors and journalists with comprehensive knowledge, the campaign aims to improve tax reporting, media coverage, and public compliance.
Ultimately, the initiative supports the establishment of a transparent and accountable tax system, essential for sustainable economic growth and development.
The collaboration between UNDP and Zimra seeks to create a well-informed society that recognizes the importance of tax compliance in achieving national and global development goals.
