A 26-year-old tout allegedly  fatally stabbed a Bulawayo kombi driver with a pair of scissors following a dispute over R8, which he was demanding as payment for loading passengers.

Chemist Sakala of House Number 345 Matshobana suburb, was not asked to plead to a murder charge when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Mr Witness Takundwa Mtetwa.

He was remanded in custody to 11 July.

The prosecutor, Mr Malvern Nzombe, said on 17 March at about 3pm, Sakala and Simon Nyathi had an altercation over R8.

The court was told that the dispute started when Nyathi refused to pay Sakala R8 for assisting him load passengers at an undesignated point in the city centre.

The dispute degenerated into a fight and Sakala pulled out a scissors and stabbed Nyathi in the chest. He collapsed and died on the spot while Sakala fled from the scene.

Nyathi's body was taken to the United Bulawayo Hospitals where post-mortem results indicated that he died of haemorrhagic shock.

Sakala was arrested at Stanmore in Gwanda following the interception of a South Africa-bound vehicle, which he was travelling in.
