A MAN from Douglasdale in Bulawayo who is employed at Bonzo mine in Hope Fountain who is accused of stabbing another mine worker on the buttock on Monday complained that police starved him for a long time following his arrest.
Nkosikhona Sibanda (29) complained against the police when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Sibongile Msipa.
"Any complainants against police did they harass, beat or deny you food?" asked Msipa.
"Yes they did not give me food until the following day," he said.
Sibanda was arrested after he stabbed Britain Mumpande of Shamrock 5 Mine in Hope Fountain after a beer drink at a local bar.
It is the state case that on March 2 this year at around 2 am Mumpande was drinking beer at Vala Bar in Douglasdale. He left the drinking spot at 2.15 am together with his friend Dandy Mudenda. When they were about a kilometer from the bar along Pinedale Road, Sibanda emerged from the bush and  produced a knife which he allegedly used to stab Mumpande once on the right buttock.
Mumpande fell to the ground.
Sibanda also ran after Mumpande's friend Mudenda who outpaced him. Sibanda went back to Mumpande with the intention to stab him again but was refrained by passerby only named as Mugande who told him that he stabbed the wrong person.
Sibanda having realised that he stabbed the wrong person he assisted Mumpande to stand up since he could no longer stand on his own.
Mumpande went home and was later taken to the United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) where he was treated and discharged.
