Members of the MDC-T Bulawayo province youth executive Monday took a dig at suspended Senator Matson Hlalo who successfully contested the results of provincial elections and barred recently elected chairperson Councillor Gift Banda from assuming office through the High Court.
The youths said Hlalo was working against the party, describing him as a "failed politician."
Addressing journalists as the Bulawayo party headquarters, MDC-T Youth information and publicity deputy spokesperson Alfred Dzirutwe said Hlalo was a perpetual loser in the party's internal elections.
"If Hlalo wants to be chairman of this party we advise him to buy a big chair and write it MDC-T Bulawayo province and then sit on it, that is the only time he can feel the post of chairmanship he is fighting for," said Dzirutwe.
He said the party's youth wing recognises Banda as the elected chairman, while endorsing the MDC-T national executive's decision to suspend Hlalo for bringing the party's name into disrepute.
Dzirutwe warned of unspecified action if Hlalo ever visited the MDC-T offices or in the event he came near the premises.
The recently elected Bulawayo youth chairperson Councillor Mlandu Ncube said Hlalo was working in cahoots with defected legislators Albert Mhlanga and Reggie Moyo to destroy the party.
Sen Hlalo last week approached the High Court seeking to overturn the outcome of the party's provincial elections where he lost to Clr Banda by close to 300 votes.
In turn, the party reacted by firing the Senator, claiming that he has thrown the party into disrepute by taking the matter to court before exhausting all internal channels.
In passing his judgment, High Court judge, Justice Martin Makonese noted that Hlalo's proclamation in challenging Clr Banda's period as a bonafide member of the party had substance as the Bulawayo deputy mayor was not eligible to be considered in the race in the first place.
Responding to the matter, Hlalo's election agent, Swithern Chirowodza was quoted saying said the Makokoba senator has not yet received official communication regarding his suspension.
