Mwaruwari's father burial set for Saturday

Former Zimbabwe captain Benjani Mwaruwari's father Amon, who passed away at the weekend is expected to be buried on Saturday in Bulawayo.

Benjani, who played 31 times for Zimbabwe between 1999 and 2010, is expected to arrive in Bulawayo from a trip in the United Kingdom today.

Family spokesperson Chris Mwaruwari, who is Benjani's young brother said: "We are still waiting for my brother Benjie to arrive. He is out of the country at the moment.

"He should be arriving tomorrow (today). We are also looking at having the burial on Saturday morning here in Bulawayo. However, if there are any changes we will notify you."

Amon, who was 69, passed away last Saturday at United Bulawayo Hospitals due to a heart problem he had been battling against for some time now.

He survived by wife Sthabile and four children namely Maria, Benjani, Chris and Tiyezhe.

Meanwhile, mourners are gathered at number 103 Percy Avenue, Hillside in Bulawayo.

Normal church services are expected to be done every day in the evenings until he is laid to rest.
