Man caught with Black Mamba in bag at a roadblock

A Zimbabwean national was today arrested at a roadblock for illegal position of a Black Mamba snake.

Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority Public Relations Officer, Caroline Washayamoyo confirmed the incident and said the man was arrested at a roadblock on his way from Hwedza after the police noticed some movements in his laptop bag.

Washayamoyo said after noticing the movements, the police then asked the man to reveal the contents and were shocked to learn that he was carrying a Black Mamba in his bag.

Upon further questioning, the man claimed that he wanted to get rid of the reptile since it was now a source of his problems.

He was however quick to mention that rescuing of the snake by the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Authority was of no use as it will find its way back to him.

He claimed that three other older Black Mambas had been taken back to Malawi where his father stays.

The man is currently at Hatfield Police Station and is set to appear in court.
