President Robert Mugabe has sent a message of condolence to the Moyo family following the death of Zanele.

20-year-old Zanele was a second year student pursuing political science, international relations and gender studies at the University of Cape Town in South Africa.

She was found dead in her off campus apartment on Saturday morning.

In a statement, Mugabe consoled the Moyo family on behalf of the ruling Zanu PF party, government, his family and himself.

"I am sure your decision to send Zanele to university stem from your parental desire and hope to see her bud into a young conscious professional who would be fully kitted for a long life ahead, but alas, that was not to be," said Mugabe.

"You are in our thoughts as you go through the heart rending motion of this whole tragedy. We urge you, your wife and your family to keep strong and hopeful," he added.

The Minister of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services, Chris Mushowe also consoled the Moyo family describing Zanele's death as a terrible blow to visit the family.

Details of the burial place and the time are still to be announced.
