Villagers were shocked when a snake they killed after it had bitten a woman went missing from the fire where its carcass was being burnt.
The woman was bitten by the snake following a series of witchcraft accusations, according to sources that spoke to The Mirror.
Masvingo Mirror reported that Beauty Zireva (33) of Kumuzhu Village in Mwenezi under Chief w Chitanga as attacked by a snake allegedly after a quarrel with a village head who is a woman.
She was taken to hospital but was then bitten by a scorpion immediately after her return.
The allegations are that the village head's son was food poisoned at a traditional ceremony. There was a harsh exchange of words between Zireva and the village head resulting in threats to unleash witchcraft against each other.
Philemon Zireva, a brother to Beauty confirmed the story to The Mirror.
Zireva hosted a traditional ceremony where villagers gathered and at that event village head's son was poisoned.
A few days later Zireva was bitten by a snake at around 3am while she slept in her hut. Neighbours killed the snake but were however shocked to realise that the snake was no longer in the fire.
Zireva was taken to Chiredzi general hospital where she was admitted for four days. She was then bitten by a scorpion soon afterwards.
The Mirror is told that Zireva's relatives confronted the village head who has since run away
