Mum kills 9-month-old baby to punish hubby

A woman (21) in Chivi left the local community shell-shocked after she allegedly killed her nine-month-old baby to punish her husband whom she accused of infidelity.
Masvingo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Tineyi Matake said Laiza Chimhashu of Dhibha Village under Chief Mauzhe's realm in Chivi, had since been arrested.
He said the alleged murder took place on the night of January 13. It is understood Chimhashu was in bed beside her husband, Mr Ngonidzashe Takura, and began to cry, accusing him of having an extra-marital affair.
She proposed divorce after a heated argument.
She then allegedly took her belongings and headed to a nearby mountain while her husband remained behind with the baby.
Chimhashu, it is alleged, returned to the house 30 minutes later after which she allegedly pressed the infant's head against the floor.
Mr Takura intervened, but the baby, whom Chimhashu was allegedly carrying at this point, fell and sustained serious head injuries.
The baby was rushed to Ngundu Clinic where it was pronounced dead on arrival.
