A BINGA man who fondled his stepmother's private parts from a bedroom window has been slapped with a 10-month jail term.
Yekelani Mudenda (31) of Chisuma village in Malayila in Binga was convicted on his own plea of guilt when he appeared before Hwange magistrate Rosemary Dube on Friday.
The state prosecutor told the court that on New Years' Day this year, Mudenda, who had been proposing love to his 33-year-old stepmother Shylet Mwembe since last year, told her that since she had been spurning him, he now just wanted a favour of sexual pleasure to quench his lust.
The following day, at around 3am, Mudenda went to his parent's homestead, leaving his wife asleep.
Upon arrival, he noticed that the door had been tightly secured and he put his arm through a bedroom window which was covered with a plastic sack as a curtain and started caressing his stepmother, who was in deep sleep. He caressed her legs and thighs.
The stepmother woke from her slumber and alerted her husband Herbert Muleya (63), who immediately woke up and saw an arm being withdrawn from the window.
He then drew close to the window and noticed that it was his son who had covered himself with a hat to conceal himself.
Upon noticing that he had been spotted, he fled the scene but his footprints and clothes sold him out.
Asked by the magistrate why he had committed the offence, Mudenda responded: "I was driven by lust and l want to apologise to my father. She is my mother and l should not have done that and l beg the court to give me a lenient sentence."
Four of the 10 months was suspended for three years while the other six were converted to 210 hours of community service at Malana Primary School.
