Bill Gates honours Zimbabwe's Edzai Zvobwo

Zimbabwean born entrepreneur Edzai Zvobwo  has been invited by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to attend the first Goalkeepers event in Africa, which will take place in Johannesburg, South Africa, on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018.  

Goalkeepers is dedicated to highlighting personal stories, sharing insightful data, and convening leaders who accelerate progress on some of the biggest issues the world faces.

By virtue of his invitation Zwobwo will attend the Global Citizen Festival which will be headlined by Beyoncé and  JAY-Z, Cassper Nyovest, D banj, Ed Sheeran, Eddie Vedder, Femi Kuti, Pharrell Williams & Chris Martin, Sho Madjozi, Tiwa Savage, Usher, and Wizkid

Goalkeepers event bring together movers and shakers in the world who are contributing to the   attainment of SDGs specifically in the areas of education and health care
The first leg of Goalkeepers was  held last year in New York on the side-lines of the United Nations General Assembly.

Speaking to Bulawayo24 Zvobwo said, "I take this invitation as an honour for the work we are doing in education through the Maths Gee Leadership Institute and the Education Support Forum to be recognised by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation considering that only about 50 goalkeepers were chosen from Africa.

"The calibre of people chose are chosen to attend the event are  high achievers, so this will be a great platform to  network, learn and collaborate with others towards  a continent wide influence."

Zvobwo is a Fellow at the  Oxford University Desmond  Tutu fellowship program. He is the only Zimbabwean to be part of the fellowship  out of 25.
