Tension mounts as MDC Youth leadership battle rages

Tension has surfaced between members of the Movement for Democratic Youth Assembly (MDCYA) as there is jostling of power ahead of the elective Youth Congress penciled for 22-24 May 2019.

An MDC insider from Manicaland who spoke to this publication on condition of anonymity revealed that the Youth Assembly across the country is involved in an intensive process of lobbying and canvassing for the candidates who are supposed to take over power for the next five years.

The source said two slates have emerged so far led by two contenders Lovemore Chinoputsa and Obey  Tererayi Sithole who are jostling for the post of Youth President.

Chinoputsa and Sithole come from a student movement background. Chinoputsa's slate has former MDC Youth Secretary General Discent Collins Bajila as the preferred  Deputy President while Sithole's team is fronting Vanguard Commander Shakespeare Mukoyi for the same position.

The source said, "it remains to be seen what position 25 year old Harare West legislator Joanna Mamombe will wrestle for."

DSG: Netsai Marova
TG : Fransisca Ncube
Spokesman: Makomborero Haruzivishe
Organiser: Denford Ngadziore
Deputy Organiser : Wellington Nare
Secretary for Gender: Cecilia Chimbiri
Secretary for Elections: Anorld Batsirai

The second one is as follows so far
President: Obey Sithole
Vice President: Shakespeare Mukoyi
Sec. Gen: Eric Gono
