Macauley, accompanied by his agent Matthew Halford also took time to pass his condolences to the families who lost their loved ones during the Cyclone Idai disaster by signing the Book of Condolences at the Zimbabwean embassy
United Kingdom-born Warriors' striker Macauley Bonne is now expected to play for the national team in competitive matches after applying a passport at the Zimbabwean embassy in London today.
The highly-rated 23-year old has already featured for the Warriors before in friendly matches, but he requires a Zimbabwean passport to play in competitive matches.
Diaspora community organisation, Team Zimbabwe's chief executive Marshall Gore confirmed the development this afternoon.
"The application will be processed and completed in Zimbabwe and Warriors' team manager Wellington Mpandare is expected to facilitate the process without any further delays, said Gore.
"Macauley is happy to have seen the process through and is fully committed to be part of the Zimbabwe national team in future assignments. There were family issues that needed to be sorted…it was not easy to reach this far, but I am happy the striker will be getting the passport now," said Gore.
Team Zimbabwe UK has also facilitated for other diaspora-based players such as Tendayi Darikwa, Kundai Benyu and Admiral Mutsekwi to feature in Warriors friendlies.
Warriors' team manager Mpandare is leading the initiative to tap into talent emerging from the diaspora community.
With the Warriors having qualified for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations set for Egypt this year, the availability of Macauley will widen the selection pool head coach Sunday Chidzambwa.
