War veterans living in abject poverty

The infighting among war veterans that has led into the formation of a number of splinter organisations has been blamed on the state of poverty that the former freedom fighters are living in.
Andrew Ndlovu, former secretary for projects in the united Zimbabwe Liberation War Veterans Association under the leadership of the late Chenjerai Hunzvi said the various splinter groups were no longer concerned about the welfare of the war veterans.
"I am appealing on behalf of all suffering war veterans that our leaders should swallow their pride and work together in pursuit of the welfare of all liberation fighters," said Ndlovu.
The war veterans have split into various groupings with the main one led by Jabulani Sibanda and others Joseph Chinotimba, Dry Phetsheya, Buster Magwizi and Willie Mnkandla.
