TWO Zimbabweans who were arrested in Botswana for illegally manufacturing and selling hand sanitisers have been issued with warrant of arrest after they defaulted appearing in court last week.
Christopher Karimbika (30) and Samson Chinga (31), who were granted P5 000 bail each on May 5, were supposed to appear before Gaborone regional magistrate Goodwill Makofi last week.
Their colleague, Mali Mazorodze, who was cited as the third accused, was remanded to today for continuation of trial.
According to the Botswana Voice newspaper, the three accused persons were found in possession of big containers of sanitisers at a warehouse in Mmopane Block 1 on April 5.
At their first appearance in court, the investigating officer pleaded with the court not to grant them bail on the grounds that they were a flight risk.
However, Makofi dismissed the prosecution's plea and granted the three accused persons conditional bail.
The trio was also ordered not to commit any offence in line with COVID-19 regulations and not to interfere with the police investigations.
They were also ordered to report to the police once fortnightly.
