Eight gold panners nabbed for malicious damage of property

EIGHT Shamva based illegal gold miners were arrested and dragged to court on Tuesday after they damaged a Honda fit belonging to another rival group of illegal gold miners in a gold rush.
Llyod Musemwa, Tafadzwa Bandawa, Evidence Musemwa,Talent Bhobho, Khedha Madhoti, Fyrum Chatura, Low Zvemanyati and one Gora appeared before Bindura magistrate Samantha Dhlamini.
The eight were remanded in custody to December 30 for trial.
Prosecutor Shieller Kudzai Maribha alleges on December a gang of Shamva illegal gold miners hatched a plan to drive away gold panners from Midlands.
Armed with machetes, axes, wooden logs and stones they approached Trust Mupedziswa who was seated in his Honda Fitregistration number 3584 and deflated the tyres before destroying all the glasses and doors.
The gang proceeded to Tipperrary shops in Shamva and found Ranganai Muchemwa drinking beer with other illegal panners from Midlands in a Honda fit registration number AFL 9596 they used the same modus operandi while ordering them to go back to their province.
A police report was filed leading to their arrest.
