Minister of State for Bulawayo Metropolitan Province, Judith Ncube has urged churches to give to the underprivileged.
She made the remarks at Nkulumane South where the Seventh Day Adventist church donated mealie meal, soap and cooking oil to the identified vulnerable groups in Nkulumane community.
The Seventh Day Adventist church had a visitor's guest day known as the Friends of Hope day where widows, single parents and orphans who were identified by the church were invited to receive some groceries.
Ncube said people should not hold on to the stings of life but should find something positive even on black days.
"I would like to acknowledge the great work that the church is doing. This is a special gift that the Lord has given us for today. May those who are talented in preaching preach the word and those who are talented in giving do likewise so that we help the less privileged," she said.
"Who goes on a daily basis to check on the dried corn sticks and exclaim the anticipated drought?".Let it go to avoid living in pain and find something positive in a painful situation, rather sell the fodder and buy the stationery."
Ncube celebrated the church members for doing a good job in the community.
The SDA church Communications secretary for Nkulumane South, Joyce Nzombe said the Friends of Hope day is internationally recognized in their church and is slated to encourage the hopeless that they are not alone hence they contribute and donate to them.
"This is a day on which we give hope to those that have lost it in the community by giving so that we help them in their areas of need, it can be in the form of groceries or clothes," she said.
Friends of hope is conducted annually in all the Seventh Day Adventist churches and the same initiative will be conducted.
