A 23-year-old woman, Vanessa Nyakabawu from Epworth appeared in court on Thursday last week after being accused of scolding her neighbour and baby with boiling cooking oil, leaving them with critical injuries that required hospitalization.
She allegedly poured cooking oil on Shyleen Masai and her baby Pauline.
According to the state, the two are now admitted to the Sally Mugabe Central Hospital.
Following the incident, Nyakabawu fled away from the crime scene abandoning her residence in Epworth to Highfield so as to evade arrest.
Nyakabawu wasn't detained until a few days later at the Machipisa Shopping Center. She was subsequently brought before the court and charged with attempted murder and was not given the opportunity to enter a plea.
Nyakabawu's detention was extended to December 29 and was advised to apply for bail at the High Court.
