19 arrested in connection with Barbourfields violence

So far, a total of 19 individuals have been apprehended in connection with the outbreak of violence that occurred on Sunday during a soccer match between Dynamos and Highlanders at Barbourfields Stadium.
On Monday, law enforcement authorities declared their unwavering commitment to bring the perpetrators of the Barbourfields Stadium violence to justice, emphasizing that no efforts will be spared in this endeavor.
All 19 suspects were taken into custody between Monday and yesterday, according to National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, who confirmed the arrests and noted that ongoing investigations are underway.
Assistant Commissioner Nyathi stated, "The ZRP has now detained a total of 19 suspects in relation to the public violence at Barbourfields Stadium. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend all individuals involved."
He added that the names of the 19 arrested individuals will be made public at a later time.
By Tuesday, at least 12 people had been detained in connection with the soccer match violence, including a couple found in possession of a firearm. Among the 12 arrests, four were for criminal nuisance, six for public violence, and the couple is facing charges related to violating the Firearms Act.
During the violence, which occurred at the soccer match, at least eight people, including four police officers, sustained injuries, and three police vehicles were damaged.
Police have unequivocally denounced all forms of public violence and are actively conducting investigations to apprehend those responsible for the disturbances.
Assistant Commissioner Nyathi also expressed concern about certain politicians who attempted to exploit the high-profile soccer match to incite violence before, during, and after the event.
