Mnangagwa challenges his Cabinet

President Mnangagwa issued a challenge to the newly appointed Cabinet and public sector leadership, urging them to uphold the developmental progress achieved in the country during the First Term of the Second Republic. He emphasized that the overwhelming victory of Zanu-PF in the recent harmonized elections was a validation of their policies.
The President made these remarks during his keynote address at a High-Level Retreat for new Cabinet ministers, deputy ministers, permanent secretaries, CEOs, and parastatal and local authority chairpersons. The purpose of the retreat was to outline his strategic vision for achieving Vision 2030.
In 2018, President Mnangagwa set the goal of transforming Zimbabwe into an upper-middle-income society by 2030. He underscored that the meeting aimed to establish a common understanding of his administration's people-centered transformative agenda following the recent electoral victory.
He noted that the country had achieved significant milestones during the First Term, including infrastructure development, power station construction, mining projects, and road and dam construction. Despite the challenges posed by illegal sanctions, he emphasized the need to maintain the socio-economic development agenda in the Second Term.
The President called for a mentality of resilience and innovation, urging Zimbabweans to surpass expectations despite constraints. He emphasized the importance of remaining true to the country's identity while adopting practices that support its vision and priorities.
President Mnangagwa stressed the necessity of providing quality, accessible services to the people and lifting vulnerable groups, women, and youth out of poverty. He urged unity among government officials and humility in serving the public.
