Nelson Chamisa, the head of Zimbabwe's opposition faction, the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), expressed his preference for engaging with Zanu-PF over Sengezo Tshabangu, whom he labelled a puppet of Zanu-PF.
Tshabangu, who asserts himself as the provisional Secretary-General of CCC, has initiated the recall of numerous CCC Members of Parliament and has indicated intentions to recall more. Chamisa and other CCC representatives contend that Tshabangu is not a legitimate party member and that the CCC does not recognize the position of Secretary-General as claimed by him.
Responding to a follower who was urging him to "never negotiate with" Tshabangu and his team but rather let them go and form their own party, Chamisa said, "I will rather engage the puppeteer than the puppets. Zanu-PF is behind all this embarrassing nonsense. They are the engineers of this tomfoolery!"
Tshabangu refutes allegations that he lacked the necessary authorization to initiate the recall of MPs who contested these recalls. He asserts his affiliation with the CCC and maintains that he holds the position of interim Secretary-General. Tshabangu contends that those leveling accusations against him failed to substantiate their claims or demonstrate their own membership within the party.
Furthermore, Tshabangu takes issue with CCC supporters who employ the "Zanu-PF puppet" label to discredit any party member expressing differing perspectives.
