Zifa normalisation committee misses important deadlines

Elections for a substantive Zifa board are unlikely to occur before September, as the Normalisation Committee (NC) led by Lincoln Mutasa is unable to complete its six tasks by the upcoming deadline.
The NC was assigned a one-year tenure by FIFA starting on July 11 last year, which extends to June 30. Ideally, a new board should have been in place by the end of the NC's mandate. Mutasa's committee, comprising vice-chairperson Cynthia Malaba, former Mighty Warriors player and coach Rosemary Mugadza, ex-Highlanders defender Sikhumbuzo Ndebele, and lawyer Nyasha Sanyamandwe, was given this 12-month mandate by FIFA, set to expire at the end of June.
During an interview on the Lovemore Banda Live YouTube channel on Thursday, Mutasa mentioned that elections for a new Zifa board will occur 40 days after adopting a new constitution, potentially at the end of June, beyond the NC's term.
