Zimbabwe Cricket is set to announce its new head coach this week, ending speculation that has surrounded the position since Dave Houghton's resignation in December.
Currently, Walter Chawaguta is leading the senior men's national team on an interim basis.
Zimbabwe Cricket has conducted a thorough selection process, advertising for both the senior men's and under-19 coaching roles earlier this year.
Givemore Makoni, the managing director of Zimbabwe Cricket, emphasized that they are prepared to appoint coaches for both teams and will make an official announcement shortly.
The new head coach is expected to begin their tenure next month, coinciding with India's upcoming tour of Zimbabwe for a five-match T20I series scheduled from July 6 to 13.
Makoni highlighted that while the immediate focus is on India, Zimbabwe Cricket is also looking towards future events such as the T20 World Cup and hosting ODIs.
The senior men's national team has faced challenges this year, failing to secure a series win after losses to Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Their disappointing performances included a 2-0 ODI series loss and a 2-1 T20I series defeat against Sri Lanka, followed by a 4-1 defeat in the T20I series against Bangladesh in March.
