The Job Sikhala-led pressure group, the National Democratic Working Group (NDWG), has strongly condemned Zimbabwe National Army commander Lieutenant-General Anselem Sanyatwe for his recent controversial remarks. Lieutenant-General Sanyatwe's statement, deemed unconstitutional and illegal by the NDWG, suggested that Zanu-PF would perpetually remain in power and implied the military's intention to enforce "command voting" in future elections.
In response to these remarks, NDWG has called for Lieutenant-General Sanyatwe's immediate resignation. The group argues that such statements undermine democratic processes in Zimbabwe and violate the principles of electoral fairness and civilian authority over the military.
The controversy surrounding Lieutenant-General Sanyatwe's remarks has sparked widespread concern among opposition groups and civil society organizations in Zimbabwe, who view them as indicative of growing authoritarian tendencies within the government. The NDWG's demand for Lieutenant-General Sanyatwe's resignation underscores broader calls for transparency, accountability, and respect for democratic norms within Zimbabwe's political landscape.

The National Democratic Working Group (NDWG) condemns statements made by Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) commander, Anslem Sanyatwe that only ZANU-PF will lead this country even if they lose elections.
"His behaviour and statements are adverse to his constitutional responsibility. Sanyatwe is a threat to national peace and the democracy outlined in the constitution of Zimbabwe. We call for his immediate resignation from ZNA. The military must stay away from partisan politics!"
