Three men accused of breaking into the Mozambique Pavilion during the 65th Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) in Bulawayo have appeared in court facing theft charges.
Denford Tsama (26), Shelton Mudzukwa (29), and Joseph Moyo (42) allegedly forced their way into the exhibition stand between 6 PM on April 28 and 6 AM on April 29. Prosecutor Ms Portia Mashashu told the court that the trio used an iron bar to break the locks and gain entry, stealing a 53-inch Samsung television valued at US$554 before fleeing the scene.
No stolen items were recovered from the initial theft, Ms Mashashu added.
On a second charge, two of the accused - Tsama and Mudzukwa - allegedly returned to the pavilion on May 3 around 8 PM. They reportedly stole a wooden coffee table and a carpet, loading the items into a Honda Fit vehicle with registration number AFP 4482.
Security personnel at the ZITF entry and exit points intercepted the vehicle, recovering the stolen goods, which were valued at approximately US$400.
All three men were remanded in custody and are due back in court on May 30.
