The Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) will hold its highly anticipated annual congress from June 25 to 28 in Victoria Falls, aiming to foster inclusive economic growth, improve the business environment, and strengthen collaboration between the public and private sectors.

ZNCC representative Joseph Hove told NewsDay Business that the event will be hosted at the prestigious Elephant Hills Resort under the theme "Unlocking Business Potential through Policy, Partnerships and Productivity."

"This premier national business gathering will bring together key stakeholders from the private sector, government, development partners, and academia to discuss innovative strategies for boosting growth and enhancing the business climate," Hove said.

The congress will also feature the National Business Awards and Presidential Dinner on June 26, alongside high-level sessions, networking opportunities, and exhibitions designed to stimulate dialogue and partnerships.

A highlight of the event will be the ZNCC Presidential Golf Tournament on June 28, where business and policy leaders will engage in a relaxed networking environment against the stunning backdrop of Victoria Falls.

The congress comes amid a tough economic climate, with many companies closing or entering corporate rescue due to persistent macroeconomic challenges. Central among these is the volatility of the exchange rate, largely attributed to controlled and artificial foreign exchange rates.

Businesses have repeatedly urged the government to ease tax burdens, ensure timely delivery of utilities, reduce export retention requirements, improve liquidity, and address the country's high operational costs. However, these appeals have yet to yield significant policy shifts.

Nevertheless, the business community has welcomed the recent repeal of Statutory Instrument 81A of 2024, which previously penalised pricing goods and services above the official exchange rate. The repeal is expected to improve price discovery and market transparency.

The 2025 ZNCC congress represents a critical platform for Zimbabwe's business sector to engage with policymakers and partners in navigating these economic headwinds and unlocking future growth opportunities.
