ZANU-PF launches cell verification drive

The ruling ZANU-PF party has embarked on a wide-reaching cell verification exercise across all six political administrative districts in Mashonaland West Province, as part of a strategic effort to fortify its grassroots structures and ensure accurate membership data ahead of upcoming political activities.

The initiative, which involves the deployment of provincial and central committee members to local communities, is being carried out to enhance party accountability, engagement, and mobilisation at the most basic organisational level — the cell, which consists of 50 members each.

Mashonaland West provincial chairperson, Cde Mary Mliswa-Chikoka, confirmed that the verification process was now fully underway and progressing smoothly across the province. She said party leadership had been successfully dispatched to each district, where they are actively participating in the exercise as mandated by the party.

"The verification process is being carried out systematically and efficiently, aligning with the party's overarching objective of fortifying grassroots structures and ensuring the integrity of our membership records," said Cde Mliswa-Chikoka.

She added that the dedication and discipline shown by party cadres had been commendable, reflecting the seriousness with which ZANU-PF views the exercise.

"As representatives of our province, we are steadfast in our commitment to uphold the core values of the party. We aim to conclude this critical exercise with utmost success and accuracy," she said.

District Coordinating Committee (DCC) chairpersons across Mashonaland West have echoed similar sentiments, underscoring the importance of the verification initiative. Zvimba DCC chairperson, Cde Bywell Mbiri, described cell structures as the backbone of ZANU-PF's organisational strategy and political influence.

"These cell structures are not only vital for mobilisation but are also crucial for governance at the grassroots level. They facilitate direct communication between the party and communities and ensure that Government programmes are well understood and implemented at local level," he said.

He highlighted that the ongoing verification process allows for closer interaction between party leaders and supporters, helping to maintain strong bonds within the political base.

In Kadoma and Hurungwe, DCC chairpersons Cde Langton Mabhanga and Cde Richard Ziki said the verification drive would help the party eliminate inactive or "ghost" members from its records, ensuring a more accurate and engaged membership database.

They noted that this clean-up would strengthen the party's organisational readiness ahead of future elections and political campaigns, while improving responsiveness to community needs.

"The goal is to create a stronger, more transparent and accountable party structure that reflects the genuine support and participation of our people," said Cde Ziki.

The cell verification exercise marks a significant organisational milestone for ZANU-PF in Mashonaland West, reaffirming the party's commitment to grassroots mobilisation and internal integrity. As political momentum builds, the effort is expected to play a critical role in shaping the party's capacity to connect with its base and maintain relevance at the community level.
