Warriors make controversial squad changes
4 hrs ago | Views

The Warriors technical team has made late adjustments to its squad ahead of Thursday's crucial World Cup qualifier against Benin in Abidjan.
Reading midfielder Tivonge Rushesha has replaced Sheffield Wednesday's Sean Fusire, who was withdrawn after failing a medical test. In attack, Tymon Machope - fresh from his brace against Dynamos - has been drafted in for Jonah Fabisch, who is sidelined with a concussion.
Most locally based players, including Denver Mukamba and Walter Musona, have already joined camp in Ivory Coast. Foreign-based stars are expected to arrive in the coming days.
Coach Jairos Tapera said the changes were tactical. "We had to respond to injuries, but this is also a chance to give in-form players an opportunity. Every match is a final for us from now on."
Zimbabwe sit bottom of Group C with four points. To stay in contention for a 2026 World Cup berth, the Warriors must beat both Benin and Rwanda.
Supporters remain cautiously optimistic, with many saying the inclusion of Machope could provide the firepower the team has lacked.
