Zifa recycles Sharrif Mussa as Warriors' GM

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has reappointed veteran administrator Sharrif Mussa as the Warriors' general manager, marking his return to the national team setup eight years after stepping down.

Mussa resigned in 2017 following a fallout with the Philip Chiyangwa-led executive but has now been brought back as part of Zimbabwe's preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals in Morocco. He will work alongside current team manager Clemence Matawu.

"Clemence Matawu remains the team manager. Mussa is coming in as general manager because we are banking on his experience ahead of the crucial tournament. He has previously served in this capacity," ZIFA president Nqobile Magwizi confirmed.

Mussa, a seasoned administrator and Harare businessman, first joined the Warriors setup in the early 2000s as understudy to then team manager Rafiq Adam before later assuming full charge of the role. He oversaw Zimbabwe's participation at three AFCON finals in 2004, 2006 and 2017.

Outside his national team duties, Mussa has also chaired ZIFA's First Instance Board, which evaluates and approves stadiums for use in domestic and international matches.

His reappointment is expected to bolster Zimbabwe's preparations as the Warriors aim to make a strong impression in Morocco next year.
