Zimbabwe at the edge of political collapse

Mthwakazi Republic Party (MRP) leader Mqondisi Moyo has released a scathing dossier exposing what he describes as Zimbabwe's deepening political crisis and the ruling ZANU PF's descent into factional chaos, corruption, and repression.

Moyo warned that Zimbabwe stands "on the edge of political collapse," with ZANU PF - once hailed as a liberation movement - now reduced to a fractured and oppressive clique consumed by internal succession wars.

"At the centre of this turmoil lies President Emmerson Mnangagwa's battle with Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga, a conflict that has paralyzed governance and exposed the fragility of the regime," Moyo said.

He asserted that the MRP has emerged as a moral and political voice, foregrounding unresolved national traumas such as the Gukurahundi genocide and amplifying the suffering and aspirations of the people of Mthwakazi.

Moyo said the factional warfare between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga - once allies during the 2017 military-assisted ousting of former President Robert Mugabe - now threatens to split the party.

"Each faction accuses the other of corruption, looting, and betrayal of the liberation legacy," he said. "Explosive dossiers implicating Mnangagwa's allies in billion-dollar scandals, including Kudakwashe Tagwirei, have shaken the party."

He cited Mnangagwa's abrupt withdrawal from the 2025 United Nations General Assembly as a sign of leadership paralysis.

"Officially framed as a security precaution, the decision was driven by fears of a coup or arrests of his allies in his absence - and the looming humiliation of facing the international community with unresolved crimes hanging over his head," Moyo said.

He argued that Mnangagwa's absence from the UN stage was a calculated move to avoid global scrutiny over the Gukurahundi atrocities, which MRP campaigns have consistently spotlighted.

"Instead of projecting strength, Mnangagwa's absence signalled a state haunted by its past, trapped by present instability, and incapable of confidently engaging with the world," Moyo said.

He pointed to the demotion of senior figures like Obert Mpofu as evidence of Mnangagwa's desperation to weaken Chiwenga's camp - moves that have instead deepened mistrust and alienated veteran allies.

Moyo also claimed that Zimbabwe's bid for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council is collapsing due to internal instability, coup fears, and loss of confidence within ZANU PF.

"The MRP has strategically highlighted unresolved atrocities, especially Gukurahundi, exposing the regime's discredited human rights record," he said.

He outlined the party's efforts to build international solidarity, engage with human rights organisations, and confront state propaganda with factual evidence.

"The MRP has consistently exposed the crimes, corruption, and failures of ZANU PF - particularly the suppression and historic abuses against Mthwakazi people," Moyo said.

He concluded by calling on Zimbabweans and the international community to place their trust in the MRP's leadership.

"The crisis inside ZANU PF reveals a dying regime. The UNSC bid's imminent collapse proves the power of truth. Now is the time for a new future of dignity and independence," Moyo said.
