Activist Jestiere Malcom Masarira appeared before Harare magistrate Sharon Rakafa on Saturday, facing charges of incitement to participate in a public gathering with the intent to cause public violence.

The charges are linked to a planned protest called the One Million Men March, organised by war veteran Blessed "Bombshell" Runesu Geza and scheduled for 17 October 2025 at Robert Gabriel Mugabe Square and Africa Unity Square in Harare.

According to the State, Masarira, 35, allegedly conspired with fellow activist Godfrey Karembera, who is already on remand, to incite members of the public to join the march, which was reportedly aimed at opposing the Head of State, President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

The prosecution stated that the accused distributed flyers with messages including "STOP THE LOOTING ZIMBABWE IS NOT FOR SALE," "7 BILLION REASONS TO MARCH," and "ONE MILLION MAN MARCH, TRIPLE PROTEST #ZIM RISING ON 17 OCT" in Harare's Machipisa, Glenview, and Budiriro suburbs.

Police received a tip-off about the distribution from a silver Toyota Aqua and tracked the vehicle to Patrenda Road in Glenview 3, where they intercepted it and recovered approximately 7,200 flyers as evidence. Masarira reportedly fled the scene, leaving behind an accomplice, Malvern Mavhere, who is already on remand.

The matter is ongoing as authorities continue their investigation.
