Former Zimbabwe Saints and national team legend Ephraim Chawanda has been appointed technical director of the club as part of a renewed effort to rebuild the historic Bulawayo football side.

Chawanda, who starred for Zimbabwe Saints in the 1980s and was part of the national team "Dream Team" era, will head the club's coaching structures. The coaching department is currently led by 2009 Coach of the Year Philani Ncube as head coach.

Club chairman Tawanda Ruzive said the appointment marks a major step in restoring the club's competitive status, declaring that "Zimbabwe Saints is back in business" after a period of inactivity.

He said the club is also rebuilding its junior structures, with plans to compete in the Bulawayo Province Junior League as part of a long-term development strategy aimed at restoring its tradition of producing homegrown talent.

The revived executive includes former players and professionals across various roles, including Lovejoy Mugadza as vice chairman, Chris Masiyandima overseeing finance, and Joseph Nkani handling marketing. The club has also appointed officials responsible for administration, development, diaspora mobilisation, and broader resource coordination.

Ruzive said the inclusion of Chawanda, alongside a strengthened executive, is intended to restore stability and sustainability, with ambitions of returning Zimbabwe Saints to the top-flight Premier Soccer League.

The club, which has a rich history in Zimbabwean football, had been inactive for about a year but has already resumed competitive action, recording one loss and one draw in its opening two matches of the season.

Officials say the focus now is on rebuilding competitiveness while strengthening youth development as the foundation for long-term success.
