A RUSAPE cross-border (22) is alleged to have abducted a 12-year-old whiz-kid after she had an argument with her mother over an affair with the man three months ago.

Ottilia Karonga who scored four units in the Grade 7 exams disappeared from her mom's UVE 2815 home sometime between 10am and 2pm on December 10, 2012.

This follows a misunderstanding with her mother - Jessica Tiwandire - over her alleged involvement with Stanford Maenzanise, and has never been seen since then.

Police in Rusape have launched a manhunt for Maenzanise, of 2714, Mabvazuva, Rusape, who vanished from the town at the same time when the girl was last seen.

A report was made on December 13, but police changed the charge from that of a missing person to abduction.

Maenzanise's relatives in Rusape have since been questioned by police, but denied any knowledge of the suspect's whereabouts.

Rusape District police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa, said there were no leads into their investigations.

Asst Insp Kakohwa said a manhunt for Maenzanise had been launched for him to answer charges of kidnapping the minor.

"We are searching for Stanford Maenzanise in connection with the case of kidnapping a 12-year-old Grade Seven girl (Ottilia Karonga), of UVE 2815, Vengere Town Ship, Rusape.

"Maenzanise's last known address is 2714, Mabvazuva, Rusape and members of the public with information regarding the whereabouts of the minor and the suspect should contact ZRP Rusape on 025-3241 or any nearest police station," said Asst Insp Kakohwa.

He said the minor was light in complexion, about 1,4m tall and medium built.

She was wearing a black short and orange top.

Her mother can be contacted on 0772 936 667.

Manica Post established that moments before her disappearance, Jessica had "beaten her" in an attempt to dissuade her from dating Maenzanise, whom she had been spotted with late in the night whenever her mother was away on her cross-border chores.

The minor was also reportedly returning home late in the evening during her mother's absence.

"Most runaway kids return home within 24 hours, but my daughter, Ottilia has been missing for three months, and hasn't heard anything from her since December.

"I am in pain. What pains me most is that my child was brilliant, she had four units at Grade Seven and should be doing Form One at Kriste Mambo. I just want my child to come back home and go to school. I am hurt to see other children going to school, when I do not know about the whereabouts of my girl. I love her so much, I disciplined her because I disapproved her early engagement with men," said Jessica.

She said she has been battling with panic and terror since the child went missing. She said her daughter had no history of running away and her worst fears were that she could have been abducted.

"My child could be in danger. Suppose she has been abducted by the boyfriend, it means she is being abused. The abductor could be holding onto her against her will due to fear of arrest. I just want my child back home. I am in constant pain. I have developed a heart problem.

"I am stressed up, each time I think about her or see her photos I end up in tears. I cannot enjoy the comfort of my home with my only child missing.

"If Ottilia is alive, why is she not just calling me? How can a young girl like her be so cruel?"said Jessica.

She said she had consulted prophets from her Zion Church of Christ who told her that the minor would eventually return home.

"But as a mother, I keep asking when she will return. It is now three months. Is she alive? Where is she and how is she surviving. If she is dead, I just want to see her remains. I want to give her a decent burial. Where are you Ottilia, come back home so that I rest. I love you, you are my only child, I will take you back and want you to go back to school so that you can reach you full potential in life," said Jessica.
