ZANU-PF leader for ward 21 in Headlands William Chapepa whose house was allegedly petrol-bombed by an MDC-T official is still admitted to Rusape General Hospital where he is in a stable condition.
Chapepa said in an interview with the state media that he was still in pain and has difficulties in walking.
"I am in pain right now I should have been discharged but the doctor said probably Monday," he said.
He said he was worried about his security since some of the people alleged to be from the MDC-T were visiting him.
"Some even come with food but I am not taking it because I don't know them. I fear for my life. They even say they are war veterans but right now all I need is security," Chapepa said.
He said yesterday afternoon, some suspected MDC-T youths visited his ward but remained seated outside checking his condition.
Chapepa said he was also afraid that his family might be attacked by some of the suspected MDC-T youths at his homestead.
He appealed to the authorities to help him before the situation got out of hand.
"At home there are defenceless people such as my wife, my mother aged 70 and my three children. There are also six orphans that I am looking after," he said.
Chapepa said Zanu-PF was not a violent party and when discharged he would not revenge but focus on his political career.
Officer commanding Rusape district chief superintendent Zvanaka Tsuro said the case was still at the courts and he could not comment.
The MDC-T secretary for Headlands Samson Magumura appeared at Rusape magistrates' courts on Monday facing charges of petrol-bombing and seriously injuring a Zanu-PF official and burning his vehicle.
Magumura was facing charges of attempted murder and malicious damage to property when he appeared before Rusape provincial magistrate Mr Shingi Mutiro.
Rusape area public prosecutor Mr Tirivanhu Mutyasira opposed the granting of bail for Magumura, prompting Mr Mutiro to refer him to the High Court for bail application. According to State papers, Magumura and Mr Chapepa are aspiring councillors for Ward 12 in Headlands under their respective party tickets.
Magumura allegedly made the threats on February 13. On Tuesday last week, around 2am, Magumura and two others still at large allegedly connived to kill Mr Chapepa and to damage his Nissan Vanette kombi.
He allegedly threw the petrol bomb at Mr Chapepa, setting him ablaze and inflicting serious injuries on his legs.
Mr Chapepa was taken to Rusape General Hospital where he received treatment.
Magumura was remanded in custody to April 5.
