Tsvangirai's MDC-T warns violent members

MDC-T has warned party members against engaging in violent activities saying perpetrators would be sanctioned.
This comes after some suspected party youths punctured the wheels of Luveve MP Reggie Moyo's vehicle when the party held a meeting at its Bulawayo provincial offices.
The puncturing of the legislator's car wheels followed a failed vote of no confidence on Bulawayo provincial chairperson Gorden Moyo and the MP.
The two Moyos were accused of failing to attend party leader Morgan Tsvangirai's rally a fortnight ago.
MDC-T national spokesperson Douglas Mwonzora yesterday said the party was clear on its anti-violence stance.
"We condemn any act of violence, but we know that some external forces want to interfere in our party to try and give the impression that we are an undemocratic party," Mwonzora said.
"We hope that Reggie Moyo is able to identify the perpetrators so that they are brought to book."
Mwonzora, however, denied that there was a failed bid to pass a vote of no confidence on the two Moyos.
"The information we have is that nothing of that sort ever happened in the meeting. There was no attempt to pass a vote of no confidence on anyone.
"In our party, leaders are removed and installed in a particular way," he said.
However, party insiders alleged that members aligned to MDC-T deputy president Thokozani Khupe were behind the futile attempts to pass a vote of no confidence on the two Moyos.
It was further alleged that the party's national organising secretary Nelson Chamisa had been caught up in the divisions rocking the Bulawayo province and labelled a "third force" responsible for chaos in the structure.
No comment could be obtained from Chamisa yesterday as his mobile phone rang continuously without being answered.
Gorden Moyo, once a close ally of Khupe, reportedly fell out of favour with her over calls for leadership renewal within MDC-T that have claimed the scalp of deputy treasurer general (suspended) Elton Mangoma and other provincial leaders.
The Khupe camp reportedly believes that if the calls for renewal were acceded to, Gorden Moyo would be elevated to the post of vice-president.
Khupe is now reportedly pushing for Bulawayo deputy mayor Gift Banda to be elevated to the post of provincial chairperson.
