Following the suspension and expulsion of provincial executives aligned to the renewal team, MDC-Tsvangirai faction has rushed to conduct provincial elections in Masvingo to fill up the gaps on 4 May 2014.
The faction's vice national organising secretary, Abednico Bhebhe presided over the Masvingo elections which ushered in Bernard Chiondengwa as the new provincial boss. Philip Chingini was elected as the chairperson of the youth assembly. Theresa Makone, the national chairperson of the women's assembly, refused to dissolve the women's assembly, arguing that all the women's assemblies across the country are pro-Tsvangirai.
Other members to be voted into the provincial assembly are Charles Mirenda (vice-chairman),Tichinani Mavetera (Secretary general), Misheck Marava (vice secretary general) and John Nyika (organising secretary).
Wilstaff Sitemere, the ousted provincial chairperson dismissed the elections, saying they fall short of the constitutional dictates.
Addressing the gathering, Bhebhe directed that the 16 motorbikes and a truck that were used by Biti loyalists be withdrawn.
